History of Flea Markets?

Most of us shop at stores or markets without giving much thought to the name of the location. One of the most popular is the Flea Market but I have always been curious why it is called that since you can’t buy fleas there. A little research reveals an unclear origin with several possible contenders for the origin of the name but the bottom line is that we can’t say for certain where it actually began.

Located just a half mile east of the Big Chicken in The Town & Country Shopping Center, A Classy Flea is a shopper's paradise containing ever-changing decorator and gift items as well as a broad assortment of furniture and antiques. There's always plenty of free parking and we're open 7 days a week: Mon - Sat 10 AM - 6 PM, Sun 12 Noon - 6 PM.
With over 30 full time dealers, assortment is always to be expected. The pictures in the gold frame at the top of this page are just a hint of the treasures that can be found every day at A Classy Flea!
